What is Yasmin?

Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is a combination birth control pill containing female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary).

Yasmin also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.

Yasmin is used as contraception to prevent pregnancy.

Important information

Do not Yasmin use if you are pregnant or if you recently had a baby.

You should not take Yasmin if you have: an adrenal gland disorder, kidney disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, coronary artery disease, circulation problems (especially with diabetes), undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, liver disease or liver cancer, severe migraine headaches, if you also take certain hepatitis C medication, if you have major surgery, if you smoke and are over 35, or if you have ever had a heart attack, a stroke, a blood clot, jaundice caused by pregnancy or birth control pills, or cancer of the breast, uterus/cervix, or vagina.

Taking Yasmin can increase your risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack.

Smoking can greatly increase your risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack. You should not take Yasmin if you smoke and are over 35 years old.

Before taking this medicine

Taking Yasmin can increase your risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack. You are even more at risk if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or if you are overweight. Your risk of stroke or blood clot is highest during your first year of taking birth control pills. Your risk is also high when you restart birth control pills after not taking them for 4 weeks or longer.

Smoking can greatly increase your risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack. Your risk increases the older you are and the more you smoke. You should not take Yasmin if you smoke and are over 35 years old.

Do not use if you are pregnant. Stop using Yasmin and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant, or if you miss 2 menstrual periods in a row. If you have recently had a baby, wait at least 4 weeks before taking this medicine.

You should not take Yasmin if you have:

  • an adrenal gland disorder;

  • kidney disease;

  • untreated or uncontrolled high blood pressure;

  • heart disease (coronary artery disease, history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clot);

  • an increased risk of having blood clots due to a heart problem or a hereditary blood disorder;

  • circulation problems (especially if caused by diabetes);

  • a history of hormone-related cancer, or cancer of the breast, uterus/cervix, or vagina;

  • unusual vaginal bleeding that has not been checked by a doctor;

  • liver disease or liver cancer;

  • severe migraine headaches (with aura, numbness, weakness, or vision changes), especially if you are older than 35;

  • a history of jaundice caused by pregnancy or birth control pills;

  • if you smoke and are over 35 years old; or

  • if you take any hepatitis C medication containing ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir (Technivie).

To make sure Yasmin is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had:

  • heart problems, high blood pressure, or if you are prone to having blood clots;

  • high levels of potassium in your blood;

  • high cholesterol or triglycerides, or if you are overweight;

  • depression;

  • liver or kidney disease;

  • underactive thyroid, diabetes, gallbladder disease; or

  • a migraine headache.

The hormones in Yasmin can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. This medicine may also slow breast milk production. Do not use if you are breast feeding.

How should I take Yasmin?

Take Yasmin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take Yasmin in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Take your first pill on the first day of your period or on the first Sunday after your period begins. You may need to use back-up birth control, such as condoms with spermicide, when you first start using this medication.

Take one pill every day, no more than 24 hours apart. When the pills run out, start a new pack the following day. You could get pregnant if you do not take one pill daily.

You may have breakthrough bleeding, especially during the first 3 months. Tell your doctor if this bleeding continues or is very heavy.

If you need major surgery with long-term bed rest, you may need to stop using this medicine for a short time. Any doctor or surgeon who treats you should know that you are using Yasmin.

Store Yasmin at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Useful information about Yasmin

Yasmin/yaz Legal cases Turn To Consolidate Claims

Following the recent reviews showing potential problems with Yasmin and Yaz unwanted effects, legal cases were filed in a number of states against Bayer Pharmaceutical drugs Corporation along with other Bayer related companies. These suits allege that Bayer didn't provide sufficient alerts counseling that Yaz and Yasmin unwanted effects could raise the chance of serious health issues, including cardiac arrest, strokes, gall bladder disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), lung embolism (PE).

Within the wake of those suits being filed, three primary firms accountable for controlling nearly all these legal cases (23 from the 32 filed cases round the country) have filed some pot motion asking the Yasmin and Yaz defective products lawsuit be consolidated. This motion would condense the suits and transfer these to Chief Judge James G. Carr from the U . s . States District Court for that Northern District of Ohio.

Legal cases were filed against Bayer after a number of reviews were launched connecting Yasmin/Yaz to many deaths countrywide. A few of these cases were fatal complications incorporated such serious effects as stroke and cardiac arrest. The complications were triggered by different facets, but probably the most notable interactions between your contraceptive and women''s physiques was the existence of high amounts of potassium. These elevated levels are potentially harmful for ladies with pre-existing conditions for example diabetes, weight problems, chronic high bloodstream pressure, kidney (kidney) conditions, good reputation for stoke, or deep vein thrombosis.

Frequently occasions, women weren't cautioned of the potential of these serious unwanted effects.

Actually, Bayer continues to be in danger previously for misleading ads. In 2003, the Fda (Food and drug administration) released an alert to Berlex Labs, a built-in area of the Bayer Pharmaceutical drugs Corporation, counseling these to cease using an advert for Yasmin. The Food and drug administration stated the advertisement was misleading, making Yasmin appear as though the unwanted effects were considerably reduced and reduced the alerts of significant health issues because of unwanted effects, particularly when the Food and drug administration had empirical evidence showing that drospirenone (among the chemicals in Yasmin/Yaz) presented added clinical risks.

Furthermore, the Food and drug administration advised Berlex the advertisement made Yasmin appear better than other birth control methods presently available.

Despite removing the ad as well as an costly campaign to fix their mistake, Yasmin remains the best selling dental contraceptive in america in 2008, Yaz paid for for 17.7% of the contraception market with sales of $616 million and Yasmin had yet another 11% from the market with $382 million in sales. These two drugs now carry the FDA''s most powerful warning label, though each of them still present a significant risk.

Anticipated Ruling On Yasmin Legal cases Due Soon

An approaching ruling through the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Lawsuit (MDL) is going to be of effective significance to Bayer Pharmaceutical drugs, the lawyers for sides, and also the patients involved with over fifty legal cases over the U . s . States. A hearing continues to be scheduled through the court on September 24 to listen to dental arguments for and against MDL consolidation, whether it ought to be purchased for that cases, and when this could possess a convincing effect on other cases regarding Yasmin/Yaz legal cases later on.

yasmin-yaz-lawsuits-look-to-consolidate-claims_1.jpg

Because the legal cases relevant to prescription contraception medicines Yaz and Yasmin have mounted against Bayer Pharmaceutical drugs, lawyers in various states are controlling similar cases against the organization for that serious interactions of Yasmin and Yaz and also the female body. Cases generally allege the potentially deadly unwanted effects, including cardiac arrest, strokes, gall bladder disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and lung embolism (PE).

Furthermore, the majority of the legal cases allege that Yasmin and Yaz both place the patient in danger of an ailment referred to as hyperkalemia. This problem is marked by elevated potassium levels within the bloodstream, and frequently doesn't have signs and symptoms whatsoever. It can result in cardiac event and kidney failure in affected patients also it hard to anticipate until it's past too far.

Other accusations within the Yasmin and Yaz legal cases declare that Bayer unsuccessful to sufficiently research either from the medicines. While just about all dental birth control methods contain a mix of oestrogen and progestin, Yasmin and Yaz have a more recent kind of synthetic progestin referred to as drospirenone. This chemical continues to be proven to become six occasions more prone to cause thrombus in patients.

As a result, claims that Bayer also fraudulently hidden the chance of serious complications from taking these birth control methods and reduced the danger women faced when using the medication.

Actually, there is a completely separate situation including Bayer''s marketing and advertising campaign for Yasmin and Yaz. In 2003, the Fda (Food and drug administration) released an alert to Berlex Labs, an element of the Bayer Pharmaceutical drugs Corporation, demanding they cease using an advert for Yasmin which made an appearance to read the functional risk presented through the medication and insinuated that Yasmin would be a safer option to other dental birth control methods. The Food and drug administration continued to state it possessed evidence on the contrary clinical tests demonstrated drospirenone presented a statistically significant rise in serious unwanted effects.

Regardless of this sincere reprimand and subsequent acceptable for Bayer, both Yasmin and Yaz continued to be the very best selling dental birth control methods within the U.S., posting 2008 sales figures of $616 million for Yaz and $382 million for Yasmin.

With the rise in publicity in the recent filings and also the weighty quantity of class action lawsuit legal cases mounting against Bayer Pharmaceutical drugs, the chance for any Yasmin recall appears potentially proximate. Patients presently taking either Yasmin or Yaz should continue to understand developing news tales regarding these medicines, because the evolution of those cases could present significant changes to both their contraceptive regimen and healthcare needs.

I was prescribed Yasmin by my GP 3 years ago. After 2 months I became depressed and very moody but the acne on my back cleared up. I decided to come off it for my sanity, my moods improved but my acne returned. 7 months ago I decided to give it another go. This time has been fantastic, I'm 31 and my skin has never looked so clear and my hair growth is much faster. I have always been a B - C cup but 7 months on I am a DD. My mood never changed and I just feel great. I wouldn't change from Yasmin now, it's been great for me.

I've started using Yasmin because of my mild acne. I'm on my third pack now and so far I can't say that my face is clear. One day it gets better but than the next day it gets worse again. It may be that I just have to wait for a little bit longer .

This pill ruined my life. Before taking this, I had very mild acne. 2 weeks into the first pack and my skin was so bad I wouldn’t leave my house. I’d never experienced anything like it before. My mood swings were crazy, I’d cry constantly for NO reason! I became extremely depressed and I had a very short temper. It killed my energy, made me fat. Oh, and my hair fell out and I got terrible Melasma on my upper lip & nose (which still hasn’t gone away...) My doc told me to stick it out for 3 months.. I hoped for the best but on month 5 I had to call it quits. Been off of it for 6 months now and my skin & mood have slightly improved but I’m still trying to undo the terrible effects caused by this pill. My skin & hair haven’t been the same since

Before trying yasmin, I was so desperate that I think I am willing to suffer any kind of side effect as long as I can get my skin cleared. I'm on my 2nd pack now. My mom and my co-workers all notice a huge improvement on my skin.

At first I thought this pill was great, after 9 months however I was an emotional mess and a stone heavier! Different pills work for different people so it's always better to try things rather than taking these reviews for gospel but they really didn't agree with me in the end. I was prescribed anti-depressants 2 months after starting Yasmin and didn't see the connection. It was only when I was finding it hard to cope whilst on the antidepressants that I did a bit of research! I've stopped taking Yasmin now and it's been almost a month. I still have the odd over thinking episode but I'm largely so much better!!! I'm still on antidepressants and have started taking the POP on Drs advice! I didn't get pregnant though so it works!

I've recently come off yasmin due to reading about the increased risk of blood clots. However I was on it for a number of years and had an OK experience with it. The positives were I had no headaches (I had excruciating migraines with marvelon) and my skin was perfect - only the occasional spot before my period similar to what it was like on diannette. However the bad side effects for me were weight gain, I put on roughly half a stone which no matter what I couldn't shift and I was tired all the time. I also had zero sex drive. I'd recommend trying yasmin if you're concerned about acne and particularly if you're looking to come off diannette. However as I say it's not perfect and everyone reacts differently.

THOUGHT: Everyone's body is different, but also be mindful and rational about external forces and behaviors causing issues, be mainly with mood/relationship problems. After 2 years off from taking hormonal birth control. I'm about to reach the inert pill week and so far this is what I've experienced: Tender breasts/nipples, but up 1 size; Improved mood (history of mood swings, but they were mainly as teenager, I am now 22); Improved complexion; More intense clitoral sensation; Mild vaginal dryness; Minimal if no weight gain (attributed to increased appetite in general with hormonal birth control); Maybe a mild decrease in libido; No bloating.

So, I had a weird experience on this pill. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo before this with fewer problems. First 2-3 months were okay, then I started having problems. I had 2-3 days of spotting before my period for the last two cycles, which would last at least 7-8 days. Then I also had 1-2 days of spotting after my period. I had super heavy discharge (which was extremely uncomfortable) as well as horrible mood swings and unbearable night sweats. The only good thing it did was clear up my face. I stopped taking it, and now all of a sudden I started bleeding again. Please use caution when choosing a bc so you don’t end up in a situation like mine.

I have been on Yasmin for about 4 years now and I have had no problems/ side effects. I have had no weight gain (except maybe a little in my breasts which isn't an issue for me), have had lighter periods and very little menstrual cramps (and I used to have a full 7 day heavy, and painful period), and can't even remember the last time I got a pimple.

Today I've been on Yasmin for 4 weeks. I started taking it mostly because of My skin, I have had mild hormonal acne since I was twelve (I'm 18). My skin has Always been combination with a more oily T-zone and dry cheeks. The surface of the skin dries out easily though, maybe because of the retinoid gel I used. I've not looked this good since I tried antibiotics (It came back afterwards) and when I get pimples, one wash with my estee lauder cleansing make them go away overnight. Its a commitment though, I started on the first day of My period and i had a 2 week long period spotting everyday for the last 2 weeks. My breasts grew two sizes as well, and i lost most of My appetite. makes me dizzy sometimes. Otherwise:perfect.

I advise you all, to not take this pill. It is an absolute nightmare. If you wish is to cry all day long, get angry at everyone, have other people mad at you for being emotional, not be able to do anything with your life, and generally if you are wishing for misery, then this is the pill for you. But I would like to take revenge against the people who invented this pill. They knew if they up the estrogen dose on the pill their patients would need to be prescribed antidepressants which - CHA-CHING!! - is a plus for them as their eyeballs look like this ($) ($). This goes for Loestrin Fe too, which I am on now.

I've been on Yasmin for about a year now. I was on Ortho-Tri for a few years prior to that, and Nordette (another birth control pill) a few years prior to that one. Because I've been on a pill for so long, my body didn't need much adjusting to Yasmin, nor did I notice any HUGE side effects. Although, after reading some reviews, I have noticed that I feel more sensitive emotionally now since being on Yasmin, I don't feel like I get mood swings per say where I'm mad, more like its easier for me to cry for something I normally wouldn't have cried so easily before. Also, I've noticed more frequent migraine headaches, and my hair is thinner but despite this, I think its still the best one for me out there. They all have pros, cons, and risks!

just over a week on from taking yasmin... first fews days a noticed being slightly more emotional as in I cried pretty much every day for 3 days but my angryness was a lot calmer, iI found that it relaxed me a bit.... crying has stopped after roughly 3rd day in. Generally feeling happier and more calm , being a moody person due to hormones yasmin has helped with this. My skin has not yet cleared up.... hoping it does but will keep updated only been a week. my head I believe has been a bit cloudy, e.g. was driving the other day and didn't feel like i was completely there and hard to concentrate sometimes. I'm not sure if this is from yasmin but it might be worth thinking about and checking in on. bloatedness has gone! and decreased appetite.

I used Yasmin for over 5 years without any issues. It had no impact on my weight and cleared my skin beautifully - however perhaps gave it a tendency to be a little too dry. When I stopped the pill acne returned very quickly. It worked without any issues as birth control. In the last months, however, I developed nausea to the pills - for some reason simply the thought of taking them gave me nausea, and at some point when I had to take two at the same time I threw up bile the next morning. I continued to take the pills for a little while, but the nausea was clearly associated with them, not any other factor, so eventually I had to switch to a different brand and composition. I would still recommened; they were OK for a long time.

Now I'm getting acne on my forehead, as well as weird cravings (which I have never experienced before). My skin looks far worse than before and much like a cookie.

This is a very good option for acne! I am 18 and I have had acne since around 7th grade. I did not know what exactly was causing my acne.. hormones? the food I was eating? I was not sure but I feel this pill was effective. I am also on solodyn which I love!! And also I use cetaphil to cleanse then moisturize with the silver serum. My routine works very well for me I have not gotten a pimple in a while however I have gotten small bumps along the way. Gaining weight was not a problem at all while taking this.. I even think I lost weight. So I would recommend this and solodyn; they definitely helped with my acne.

Well, I have had polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms since the age of 13. When I was 18 my doctor prescribed Yasmin. Before, I was overweight, had bad acne, excessive hair growth on body and face, and was just angry/depressed. After taking Yasmin, my skin was amazing, seriously! I lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks (was active though), hair didn't grow as much, I had more energy, and I was content. The only side effect I had was a small rash on my ankle, that cleared up in 2 days. At that time, I only had a 28 day supply. I'm 26 now and haven't taken Yasmin since then. I've gained all the weight back plus more, I have way more hair growth and I'm angry and depressed all the time. I'm willing to try Yasmin again this year.

I was having a horrible time on Ocella which contrary to what your local pharmacist will tell you, is NOT the same as Yasmin. So my doctor switched me to Yasmin and the first month was great, no more horrible mood swings, I was almost on euphoric high. The second month I completely crashed, I started having hot flashes, mood swings, ovarian pain, hair loss, anxiety and a general feeling of non-well-being. ASIDE from that, my period was fine, not too bad.

I never post on these forums but its nice not to feel alone! Started taking Yasmin one month ago for BC. Going to wait it out a couple of months as that seems to be the best option. I had a TERRIBLE breakout of acne (no major issues in years). I'm on the first lot of sugar pills now and skin has calmed down drastically so I'm hoping it won't break out again. Also I haven't had any bleeding yet on my 'period' week but heard this is normal. My boobs feel HUGE and tender, but I haven't noticed any weight gain, possible weight loss, but thanks to unusually large boobs I do feel large and heavy. Also just started to notice some irritability and anxiety. Skipping my period next pack due to a holiday so curious how that will affect any side effects!

I am 22 and I've been taking yasmin for almost a year and it's pretty much okay, my skin is clear and cramps and PMS are a lot better than before. Side effects though are weight gain (around 13 lbs) along with bigger boobs and everything which is really not great. Also I have zero sex drive which is making me feel bad. I am thinking about switching to a lower dosage pill but I'm not sure about other pills because I have migraines and I'm worried it'll get worse (yasmin didn't really affect it).

I've been on Yasmin nearly one month and my skin has improved so much! I'm so happy! I feel so much more confident my skin still has a few spots but literally nothing compared to what it was like before! About to go on my Seven day break so hopefully it doesn't break me out but so far I'm really impressed the only down side is my moods have been all over and I have been up and down it was really bad when I first started on it but it seems to be settling down now! For me it was worth going through that to help my skin because it affected my confidence!

Im 17 and I started Yasmin 4 months ago as I broke out in acne and I also had PCOS. This is not good when you do modelling, I was devastated. The doctor also started me on antibiotics to give the pill a chance to kick in. I have mood swings but I think that's pretty normal for a teenager, haven't really changed in my weight, but the great thing is my acne has cleared up, I can go without makeup now. I still get pimple breakouts every now and then but that's also a normal teenage thing. The doctor wants to change me to a milder pill soon, but if I break out again I will be asking to go back on Yasmin>

My experience with Yasmin has been really well. I didn't gain any weight as some people are saying they did. I had mild acne and now my face is perfectly clear, give or take a monthly pimple. One thing was that I did get VERY moody the first 2 months of taking it. I was not my usual happy self. I didn't want to be touched and everything was a problem for me. But after the 2 months, I went back to myself. I've been on it for 7 months now and I'm very happy with it.

I got really bad acne when I turned 14 and my period wasn't regular and after trying a lot of things I started taking yasmin when I was 15 and my acne started to clear up in two to three months of using it I went off it when I was 17 and the acne came back really badly so I went back on it until I turned 19. I thought my hormones would be normal by then I was off yasmin for 3 months it seem to go good but I didn't get my period at all and then I started breaking out again so I'm back on yasmin since then .

I have been taking Yasmin for 8 years (with a 10 month break after 5 years). I stopped to have a baby, pregnant within the first month off the pill and back on it right after birth. This pill has been great! Clear skin, no weight gain or side effects. I think people starting any pill will have a rough beginning but give it a chance. All body types are different so nothing works for everyone.... But this worked great for me.

I have been on Yasmin for 10 years, yes 10 and I am finally getting the guts to change contraception. My periods themselves are a complete breeze, light enough, minimal cramping, but the gap between the last pill in my pack and my period actually coming is horrendous. As a teen and in my early 20s it made me really down but just for a day, one day felt like the trade-off for not getting pregnant and I accepted it, now it's crippling migraines that effect my ability to function. Along with no sex drive. Fear of pregnancy, bad doctors and lack of education kept me suffering for years. Know your body and stand your ground. It might work for some but know when it's not working for you!

This pill has its upsides and downsides. I suffer from chronic severe migraines possibly hormone related and although in the beginning they got a lot worse, after one year on the pill my migraines have reduced to almost non-existent. I also suffer from PCOS and saw dramatic improvement with my periods. They became lighter and always on their time, whereas before the pill I used to bleed 2-3 times per month. However, this pill is not a panacea and it is definitely not harmless. My libido has reduced, I too experience the occasional paranoia and extreme irritability, my cholesterol and triglycerides have risen although I follow a balanced diet and exercise but I did not gain any weight. All in all this pill works but needs a lot of patience.

I took this pill a few years ago at the age of 24 for about a year and at the time it was great! Acne cleared up, no cramps or weight gain, no effect on sex-drive and didn't get pregnant. I stopped taking it when my relationship broke down. Fast forward to age 29 and due to upcoming wedding decided to take it again to try and get my skin clear... been back on it for 9 months now and struggling with it. Acne doesn't seem to have improved, sex-drive gone completely and feel nauseous constantly (except pill-free weeks... I actually look forward to my period these days as it's the only time I can actually enjoy food). I have 1 month til our wedding and going to change after that

I'm using Yasmin as a Birth control but also to treat acne and PMS symptoms. Let me tell you, Yasmin is awesome! -I've just finished 1 cycle of Yasmin and all my acne and pimples have disappeared, now my skin is very clear and even somewhat glows. -All my PMS symptoms have subsided, no more cramps and period pain (you hardly feel that you're on your period because it is so light), period comes very much on time. - I used to get occasional mood swings before, during and after my periods but I haven't been in bad mood this entire month. Yasmin really helped with my mood swing. I highly recommend Yasmin.

Worst experience ever. Haven’t even made it through the first pack and have started getting zits, something I never had an issue with and also became extremely depressed, another thing I never had. I know they say to wait a bit longer until your body gets used it, but depression is nothing to wait out and see. I would be afraid if someone who had an underlying mental health issue and this drug could potentially kill them. Use this with caution if you have no other choice.

I switched from Microgynon to Yazmin due to suffering from almost all terrible side effects including fatigue, loss of libido and mood swing. I have had 4 packs of Yazmin so far. At the first three months, I feel a lot better. I was happier and even had better libido. However, starting from the 4 packs, I started to have some side effects. I am slowly losing my libido and became moody. Yet, my breast seems to be bigger, had shorter and lighter period, and haven't had breast pain and fatigue at all.

I have been taking Yasmin for a little over a year now. Prior to that I took Yaz for about 3 years. I have stopped taking Yasmin and other pills, for a little over a month now. I have noticed that I seem to be eating the same, which isn't terrible, and I've gained about 3 pounds in that time. I stopped taking the pills altogether because my husband got a vasectomy and the pills cause some minor high blood pressure.

I really like Yasmin. I have been using it for nine months and it has been great. It has been great for cramps and I have only experienced slight weight gain (due to increased cravings). The only side effect I had was nausea. I experienced nausea when I took the pill and did not have food in my stomach. If I ate before taking it, it was great! Overall, I have had a great experience with Yasmin.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 10 months ago and although they removed it, I started to get the pain again a couple of months ago. Instead of opting for more surgery I tried the pill even though I have anways gotten bad side-effects from hormone birth control methods. I tried Microgynon for a month, but put on about 7lbs of water retention. I then tried Yasmin and I've been on it nearly a month and I love it! I've had no cramps, my breasts are bigger (bonus for me after losing them after losing weight), I haven't put on any weight, no bloating and my skin looks clearer. LOVE IT!

Also I dont have increased apetite. My hair also has not changed. I take the pill in order to cure my acne. I can tell through the first month there is no increasing or worsening my skin situation before getting better. I think it is going to help me treating my acne very well and I am waiting for results.

I did experience anxiety, but from reading some reviews about Yasmin if you take a multivitamin your symptoms will go away including your sex drive problem caused by the pill. I haven't taken Yasmin for about a few weeks so that I could give my body a rest but I want my Yasmin back!

The best! Takes a while but keep it up. I had horrendous cystic acne around my chin and lip area. My chin would be all bumpy due to the huge spots I had like the silloeutte of a cauliflower!! 18 months on and it's the best skin I've ever had. Ever time I come off it though (2 kids) my skin goes back down hill. I am very health conscious, eat well, drink plenty of water etc. Nothing made a difference apart from this.

This pill was great for the first year, I lost weight, had no side effects and light periods. I then started having TERRIBLE problems with my stomach, similar to IBS-D. I have since done a lot of reading and found that many women have had this experience with Yasmin. I am switching to the vaginal ring this week and hope that my stomach problems will go away somewhat. I also have started suffering from migraines before and during my period break which I never had before.

Yasmin was the 1st birth control I ever tried.I used it for 3years, never had any issues. Before I had horrible acne and irregular menstrual. Yasmin cleared my skin beautifully!! It also made my menstrual regular and I lost weight . I got off the pill for about 4 years then got back on the pill and was prescribed ortho-tri cyclen and that was awful. I'm now looking for something comparable to Yasmin that my insurance covers. Yasmin is like a miracle pill... pretty skin, got skinny and no babies

This was the first (and only) birth control I have ever used, so I will say upfront that the effects it had on me may have resulted in any birth control use not just from Yasmin. I used Yasmin for about 2 months and in that amount of time it had almost completely killed my sex drive. I could not reach climax whereas I had not had a problem before and had almost no desire for sex. In addition I became so dry that when I did have sex it would burn and be painful. I did gain some weight but I'm not sure if I could really blame it on the birth control except for the fact my breasts went up a cup size and still haven't shrunk though I've lost weight. The weight may have been put on easier on Yasmin? Hair got thicker also but no baby!

I had really bad acne. I'd cry about it for hours. I would wear a lot of makeup to hide the fact my skin was awful. I'm a very sensitive person so when people nastily commented on my make-up, it hurt. I would think it isn't my fault,it's my skin! I went to the doctors after receiving many acne medications (which had lots of side effects but no results). I was offered Yasmin before but I thought I was too young but it was my last resort before going to having Roaccutane. I was 13. I'm still on the Yasmin. I used to have irregular periods and mood swings. They've stopped and my skin is clear and beautiful now. I stopped wearing the slap and became more confident. I would recommend it!

I have been on pretty much every birth control pill out there, all with side effects that were serious enough for me to have to go off of them. I started taking Yasmin and for the first time I had no break through bleeding, no side effects. I was on it for about two years when I decided to go off of it to have a baby. I used a back up method for about 6 months and then tried to get pregnant. One night, one try and I was pregnant. So I think it works well at preventing pregnancy! When the time came to go back on the pill I was concerned I wouldn't be able to get it because of all the stuff I've been hearing. My doctor said that there are increased risks but that the risks are minimal, especially given that I'm under 35 and don't smoke.

I have PCOS and my gynecologist recommended that I take Yaz or Ocella. I took Ocella about a week, but after feeling numbness in my arm I decided to look up reviews on Yasmin, Yaz, and Ocella. I was horrified. I stopped Ocella and my PCOS started to get worse so I searched for medications that were good to treat PCOS. Yasmin had awesome reviews from people with PCOS (not so much for those with out it). I read allot of reviews and found that most people can tell a difference btw Yasmin and Ocella. I don't have insurance, but to me the price is worth it! I've lost weight, have my period again which makes me feel normal, my breast have only slightly gotten larger but don't hurt, and my skin only breaks out when I'm on my period.

Awful pill! I started taking this pill three months ago as my previous pill was making me hypersensitive to the sun (Gedarel). I think I'd rather live like a vampire than try and cope with the mood swings from this pill. My poor fiancé has even mentioned how bad my mood swings have been and it makes me feel awful being so up and down all the time. I am going to change it this week and hopefully be more successful with the next one. I am a very happy go lucky person and this pill is the worst I have ever been on. I have been on Micro 30, Dianette and Gedarel in the past 7 years and is one is by far the worst. My sister is on this one too and she is fine so just goes to show how individual it can be to react to certain pills.

Now 6 months on from starting yasmin my skin is better than its ever been and I am only left with slight hyperpigmentation which is easy to cover with makeup. Not 1 new spot this month and NO oil at all! Seriously, not even a shiny nose! Results only started at around 5 months so please, please keep at it. 1st month my breasts grew and hurt alot but by month 2 they went back to their normal size and I felt no more pain. Months 2-4 I had minor whitehead breakouts along my jawline but these disappeared by month 5. Month 6 I am acne FREE

I was prescribed yasmin 5 years ago for acne, I'd got that depressed with my acne 2 months later got a referral having to pay private for dermatologist to give me to roaccutane as doctors didn't think was severe enough although had major psychological effects on me. It worked wonders cleared acne up in 4 months, I stayed on yasmin for another year skin stayed clear. My doctor told me that due to risk of blood clots taking me off it. I flared up massively which really annoyed me as I was fine on the pill no side effects back and forth for a year my doctor finally agreed to put me back on yasmin 2 months in and my acnes clearing again.

Please !!!! If you are taking Yasmin/Yaz stop immediately. 8 years ago at 37 I had a blood clot in my leg (DVT) that moved into both sides of lungs (PE) I was completely healthy ! I had two filters and stent inserted. When I went into the hospital the doctors and nurses told me they see way too many young women die or almost die from blood clots from Yasmin. Please research it ! I now 8 yrs later have to go back in to get my last filter removed so please just switch to another brand of birth control. It could seriously save your life !

I am 20 years old and have had relatively clear skin my whole life. Just over a month ago I had a horrific breakout, the likes of which i'd never seen! Before, I'd stress out over one little spot on my chin whereas now my whole face was riddled with them. I was prescribed Yasmin and just wanted to say - it's not a quick fix! I've been on it almost a month now and I'd say my acne has gotten twice as bad - the spots are mostly comedonal acne and my uneven face and complexion make me extremely self conscious. Following reading the other good reviews, I'm looking forward to the good skin to come, but just needed to say that it's certainly not here yet! Hoping Yasmin follows the rule that sometimes things get worse before they get better!

I'm 16 and I started taking yasmin in August for polycystic ovarian syndrome. My acne was quite bad, mainly on my cheeks and chin where I'd get big clusters of spots. I also had many small bumps on my forehead. In the first month there was no difference skin. By the third month I could start to see some improvement to my skin and the severity of my acne had gone down. By the fourth month I was amazed!! It took about a week into the 4th pack before I only had a few spots on my chin left and no new spots were forming. I'm on the 5th month now and only have a small spot on my chin and have been left with scars which are healing. I'm so happy with the results but I experienced terrible mood swings, which are improving. Overall very happy!

Have been using yasmin for about 6 weeks. I am 25 and have suffered with acne of the face, shoulders and back since I was about 13. Roaccutane isn't an option for me. I don't think I have been on Yasmin long enough to make a fully informed review, but so far my skin has looked notably clearer, I used to get cysts around my jaw and neck which were so painful, along with normal spots and blackheads around my chin and mouth. My skin is still far from perfect, but I have not had any cysts, and only one spot on my chin. Blackheads seen minimised, and I have started using a moisturiser for 'normal' skin, rather than the heavy duty oil control ones as they had become to drying! Side effects: heavier periods, tender breasts. That's all so far!

I used duac for a couple of years & this worked, until a few months back when it became less effective. My doctor mentioned Yasmin & thought I would give it a go despite it's mixed reviews & I am so glad I did! My skin has never looked so smooth on my face! I had one large spot a couple of weeks into using Yasmin (this was normal as I always got these at this time of month) however the spot was gone in a couple of days & usually they would be angry & sore for weeks! I started Yasmin three months ago after having the implanon( contraceptive implant) for about 5 years. I switched over because I had started to experience irregular bleeding and just to mention because a lot of women worry about weight, on that contraception I was both oversight and underweight at different times just due to my eating and lifestyle ( don't think contraception made a difference) so far my experience of Yasmin has been good, I never had 'acne' but I swear overnight and since starting it I have not had one more pimple and skin has just felt a lot nicer( not too dry not too oily) I had the initial nausea for about 2 or 3 days and the occasional breast tenderness but hey that's to be expected when you are changing your hormones?

Before I was crippled and taking a combination of 50 pain relief tablets over a 5 day period, waking up in the night in pain and also struggling to work. Now I have basically no period pain at all and have to take zero pain relief medication...such a difference! My period was always pretty light but now it’s almost nothing! First month I had lots of break through bleeding but now nothing. In terms of my skin, I can definitely see a big improvement. It’s working much slower for his however (I’ve been on it 3 months). Otherwise no real side effects- my mood is good and no weight loss or gain.

On a happier note my periods are regular and last 4 days with little cramping and little to no bloating. Above all I do not feel myself. I normally work out 2-3 times a week, but I noticed I was so tired everyday, I only worked out maybe once a week. As for weight gain, I think I might have gained some water weight, but nothing too noticeable. It didn't affect my appetite too much either.I was on Junel Fe before which was great until the very end, where I started getting abnormal periods. She said there were minute risk JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER MEDICATION ESPECIALLY BIRTH CONTROL. I would recommend this birth control to anyone! My face has never looked better. I struggled with acne for years and this truly is the only thing that has helped. My periods were extremely regular, with minimum cramping and NO bloating. I did become more moody. Yasmin is a life saver. I would honestly recommend it to anyone with persistent acne. My acne came back when I was 20 after my skin had been completely clear since I was around 16. My GP didn't feel like it was severe enough to put me on strong medication again like I was during my teen years so he prescribed me Yasmin. I have been taking yasmin now for around 8 months and my acne is completely gone. I stopped taking it at one point for about a month because I was away and unable to get a prescription and my break outs started to come back which definitely proved to me that Yasmin actually works. I still get the odd spot here and there but they are always small and easy to get rid of I no longer get cystic spots at all !!

I have never left a review for any kind of drug or medication before but felt that I needed to for Yasmin in case there were other people in my situation. I am 21 and have had quite mild acne since I was about fifteen, however, around four months ago (after two years using implanon as contraception) I experienced a terrible breakout. I used every topical I could think of and was borderline suicidal over the state of my skin before my doctor mentioned the implanon can often contribute to bad hormonal acne. I got it taken out that same day and started on Yasmin, and within less than two months I have no active acne whatsoever and am focusing on healing my scarring. This pill has been a godsend for me.

I've just started Yasmin. I was on Diane-35 last year, then stopped, but the water weight didn't seem to go away and I had cellulite, that I had never had before Diane-35. In 9 days, I've lost about 2kg. My mood seems fine so far. Have to visit bathroom more often. The best thing - I'm about a cup size up, from B to about C now. It's fantastic and I cannot wait for my boyfriend to see them! Diane-35 made me feel awkward and out-of-place, because of the sudden water weight on legs, bottom, arms, tummy, etc, but I feel so light on Yasmin. Yasmin gave me back my flat tummy (I had some bloating problems). First month in and it's been fantastic. Cannot stop looking in the mirror.
